I enjoy working within the context of existing buildings, reacting to what I find, drawing attention to small existing details and responding with an appropriate palette of materials.
Unlocking the puzzles offered by ancient structures and their subsequent additions often allows me to come up with something far more interesting and meaningful than any new build. I relish a challenge. And that includes the opportunity to create something new, when the brief demands it.
I like the hands-on, one-to-one relationships I have with my clients. Good communication supports an agile approach to projects, both in the response to site and context but also the timelines that work best for my clients’ commitments and budgets.
